We had a very busy weekend, Friday we went to the parade. That was so much fun...my sister is living in a house right on Main St. so we sat in her yard. That was so much better than sitting on the sidewalk and worrying about the boys running out in the road. This year they had the whole yard to run around in...which was especially good for Logan since once the firetrucks and police cars had went through he pretty much lost interest. lol Then we went to the fireworks that night and Logan fell asleep before they even started. I felt bad because he had been talking about them all day! Gavin enjoyed them though. Plus, July 1st started the $20 promotion to become an independent business owner with Ameriplan, which is totally awesome, so I've been very busy sending emails, calling people and posting ads. I hope to bring alot people into this business this month. I love to help people work from home, especially moms with small children like me, that is what I love about this business! So between the whole 4th of July weekend and the $20 sign up promotion going on it has been crazy around here. I just wanted to post something to keep this little blog going, maybe next time I will have something more interesting to blog about.

What a fun night!

This week is the annual 4th of July celebration in my hometown. We took the boys over to the fair tonight and had a great time! Gavin was so happy and I do not think he is scared of anything, he wanted to ride just about every ride they had. Logan was a different story. He rode a couple rides but was not going for a lot of them. He really enjoyed the big, bumpy slide and I think that was Gavin's favorite thing too. It makes me so happy to see my kids smiling and having fun. I know that they are little now and it doesn't take much to make them happy, but I hope that I will always be able to bring a smile to their sweet little faces. The most important thing to me is for them to have a happy childhood. I can not wait til Friday for the parade and fireworks. I love Independence Day!!

Why work at home jobs don't work!

I often have people ask me how I am able to work from home, people who have been looking for a long time and still haven't found anything worth their time. So today's blog is about finding that opportunity. Okay, lets get real! 95% of ways to make money from home are junk! They are scams, don't deliver on their promises, or are only available to qualified people. Realistic work at home jobs are telecommuting, freelancing, and jobs for Specialized Skills. Most telecommuting jobs are jobs in which you have worked on-site with the company for a while and then are able to move to working from home with approval from your boss. Usually you are still required to come to the office for meetings and to drop off and pick up paperwork. Freelancing is great for people who have backgrounds in photography or web design. And Specialized Skills are jobs for people with degrees such as teachers, medical professionals, and trained transcriptionists. So reality for most people is that they do not fall in to any of these categories. Most people need entry level and entry level jobs online are few and far between.

Now lets talk about the alternative for working from home if you are not qualified for the jobs above. Most people are looking to make a quick buck and end up getting scammed. They are attracted to "get rich quick", responding to ads for sites that claim you can "make $10,000 tomorrow" or "become a millionaire while you sleep". When I first started looking to work from home I was attracted to these sites too. I think it was a combination of curiosity and hopefulness. Lets face it, the ads sound appealing but are unrealistic and the only person making money is the one who created the site. People are also looking to make money by doing nothing. These are jobs listed as envelope stuffing, data entry, typing and surveys. 99% of the time these are all scams. Been there, done that! Never made any money with them.

The last option is owning a home based business. A lot of people are closed minded and shut down the idea of a home business and most of the don't even really know what one is. They assume they must invest a lot of money, start from scratch and just be "thrown to the wolves" with no training or support. None of this is true if you start your business with a great company. A great company will provide a "model" to duplicate your business by. You will also need to make sure your enroller/trainer is very supportive. They should be available to answer questions, give suggestions, and support you through your entire journey. People are always thrown off by start up costs. They say you should not have to pay for a job. That is true, you should never pay for a job (or for info on a business opportunity), but that is different for than a business. You could not go open up a restaurant or store without start up costs. This is true for a home based business as well and many home based businesses can be started for less than $100, and that is a very small price to pay for the rewards that you can have. One benefit of a home based business is the tax write offs, portions of your mortgage, electric bill, phone and Internet can be written off. The start up costs, any monthly overhead, advertising and any other business expenses can be written off as well. Starting a home business with a company that is 5 years or older reduces your chances of being scammed dramatically. With a home business the income potential is unlimited and because it is your business you can will it to you children or whoever you want and be able to leave behind a financial legacy. A home based business will become a life long career not just a job.

Most people I talk to say they have been looking for work from home for 6 months the 3 years. I guess I am above average, I searched for 5 years. I didn't want to do telemarketing, cold calling, or pressure people to by my products and I thought that's what every home business was about. I was wrong! I've learned if you love your products/service and have a great company it does not have to feel like selling. All I do is educate people about the opportunity and inform them about our services. The rest takes care of itself. I finally got out of the work at home J-O-B mindset and started a home based business and I could not be happier!!

Introduction

Hi everyone, my name is Stacey. I am married and have 2 sons, ages 5 and 2 1/2. I started a home based business in March 2008 to be able to stay at home with my children. When I first started I saw this as an opportunity to make a little extra money to help with the bills. Over the last few months my vision has grown and I am looking forward to being able to provide my children with all the things I did not get to have growing up. Most of all, my ultimate goal is to be able to bring my husband home from his job so my children will have 2 full-time parents. I am on my way to making that dream into reality. I decided to start this blog as a journal, a place to write about everything, the ups and downs, my goals and achievements, not just for business. But everything that comes along with having a husband, 2 active boys and trying to be a successful business person.
